Rock Hill,
South Carolina -- Charlotte Independence's Chris Leak
threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns as North
Carolina beat South Carolina 28-nothing today in the
annual Shrine Bowl all-star game.
Leak, who lead
his school to the state 4-Double-A title last week,
helped the Tar Heel team to its first victory since
1998.
He hit on 15
of 25 passes and was voted North Carolina's offensive
M-V-P. He had touchdown passes of 8 and 24 yards to
Travis Lee of Shelby Crest and of 23 yards to Kenny
Moore of Matthews Butler.
South Carolina
had several chances to score, but -couldn't- get past
the Tar Heel defense. North Carolina's Pierre Parker of
Wilson Beddingfield, the team's defensive M-V-P, had an
interception to end a South Carolina threat five yards
from the end zone.
South Carolina
quarterbacks were sacked eight times for 74 yards. South
Carolina leads the series 37-25-and-4.
