           Committee Chairperson

BEFORE THE PLAYERS ARRIVE

 
I. Prepares selection packets for players to complete upon selection.  Coordinates with Shrine Bowl office to include all items to be mailed to players. Makes necessary amendments to the paperwork as needed and gets paperwork packets printed.

II.  Notify Shrine Bowl Office of the adult and student athletic trainers selected to work with the athletes of each state in the upcoming year. Student athletic trainers will not be known until approximately August 1 (NC) and mid-October (SC).
III.  Secure sizing information from athletic trainers selected to work the game. This needs to be done in February so that the blazers may be ordered for the adults.
IV. Contact vendors and request via "The Shrine Bowl Wish List" supplies needed to render first aid and provide rehabilitation for injured athletes.
V. Keep selected Shrine Bowl Team Athletic Trainers knowledgeable regarding meetings and events pertinent to the game. This involves attending all athletic department meetings relative to the operation of the athletic trainers and medical staff, voicing the concerns of our athletic trainers, and conveying discussed matters of concern with the committee Co-Chairmen. The Athletic Training Committee Co-Chairmen for each Shrine Bowl team share in keeping the second adult trainers selected yearly, informed relative to Shrine Bowl activities and their role. 
VI. Collect medical paperwork from players.  Make sure all needed forms are returned by each player prior to the deadline. The Chairman and both Co-Chairmen will together contact individual players, coaches, athletic directors, principals, parents, and whoever necessary to have all paperwork in hand prior to the player's reporting date.
VII. Prepare signs necessary for pre-game health screening, hotel training rooms, and post-game screening at the stadium.
VIII. Prepare notebooks used by each team to maintain records on their players.
IX. Arrange for the pre-game Health Screening of both teams:
A. Secure the necessary personnel for each station
B. Prepare routing charts to issue to athletic trainers, escorts, and personnel involved in the screening process.
C. Organize and set up the room(s) to be used in the screening process
D. Arrange health screenings for players late due to play-offs, SAT's, or ACT Exams, college visits, etc. 
X. Arrange for a vehicle to transport athletic training supplies from our storage area to the area(s) where the supplies are needed. This has to be done on the day prior to player arrival.
XI. Assist in picking up van(s) to be used by the athletic trainers for the week of practice and on game day.
XII. Coordinate the delivery and pick-up of "Gators" for athletic trainers to use at practices.
XIII. Assist Team Athletic Trainers set up training room(s) on the day prior to player arrival. This includes bringing in supplies, rearranging furniture, and covering the floor of the hotel training room with carpet mask to protect the hotel floor (carpet) from damage.

AFTER THE PLAYERS ARRIVE-&-DURING THE WEEK OF PRACTICE

A. Assist with pre-game health screenings as needed.
B. Assist team athletic trainers prepare players for practice as needed.
C. Assist in transporting team athletic trainers to and from practice, meals, and other Shrine Bowl functions as required.
D. Assist as needed with treatment and rehabilitation strategies for injured players.
E. Assist as needed in transporting injured players to and from medical treatment centers.
F. Assist when necessary with the decision to hold a player out of practice (or the game) due to injury, and the notification of the coaching staff.
G. assist with game coverage for both teams.
XV. DURING AND AFTER THE GAME
A. Organize a facility to conduct post-game screenings of players.
B. Assist team athletic trainers clean up and clean out the hotel training room(s).
C. Return unused and leftover supplies to the storage area.
D. Collate injury records maintained by team athletic trainers and turn these into the Shrine Bowl Office
E. Write Thank-you notes to all vendors and persons involved in the activities of the athletic trainers and their ability to serve the Shriners and athletes of the Shrine Bowl.
Committee Co-Chairs & Team Athletic Trainers
I. Assists in the procurement of supplies needed for practices and the game.
II. Assists in moving supplies into the hotel and setting up the athletic training facility for their team.
III. Assists in the pre-game health screening of players
IV. Assist with fitting of helmets (optional-but recommended)
V. Prepare teams for practice (Taping, Wrapping, etc.) 
VI. Provide necessary first-aid and rehabilitation to injured athletics. 
VII. MAINTAIN ACCURATE INJURY RECORDS on players seen in the training room throughout the week as well as those that receive injuries attributable to practice or play in the Shrine Bowl. Documentation Includes:
A. Date of Injury
B. Nature of the Injury
C. First-aid Received
D. Rehabilitation Techniques Employed
E. Therapeutic Modalities Used
F. Medications Prescribed by One of Our Physicians.
G. X-Rays Taken of Player During the Week or Following the Game
H. Detailed Injury Report Completed at time of Injury Evaluation.
I. Completed Referral Form for Players Sent to a Physician. Return Portion of Referral Form to be Attached to the Treatments & Medications Side of Player's Health Screening Form
VIII. Provide Game Coverage for their Respective Team
IX. Assist with Post-game Health Screenings
X. Assist with Cleaning up and Cleaning out hotel athletic training facility
XI. Assist with Returning the Unused and Leftover Supplies to Storage
Team Student Athletic Trainers
I. Assists with Organizing the Athletic Training Facilities
II. Familiarizes Themselves with the Players as Soon as Possible
III. Check the Player Listing to see in the Palyer has Turned in All His Medical Forms
IV. Assist as Directed with Pre-game Health Screenings
A. Player Check-in
B. Create a Log of Players Requesting to be taped. A Form Will be Provided.
C. Issue Cards Denoting Athletic Trainer Room Assignments & the Training Room #
D. Other Duties as Directed by Any Adult Athletic Trainers
V. Assists with Helmet Fitting (Optional-but Recommended)
VI. Assists with Player Preparation for Practices and Games
VII. Assists with Rehabilitative Treatments on Injured Players at the Direction of the Adult Athletic Trainers
VIII. Assists in MAINTAINING ACCURATE INJURY RECORDS on athletes.
IX. Attend All Functions that are a Part of the Shrine Bowl Week of Activities
X. Assists in Getting Supplies and Equipment to the Practice Field at Morning and Afternoon Practices (and at the Stadium on Game Day.) This Includes:
A. Loading the Bus (Van)
B. Unloading the Bus (Van)
C. Organizing the Sidelines at Practices and in the Game.  A John Deere "Gator" Will be Available for Each Team at practices, but not on game day.
XI. Assists with Filling Coolers, Ice Bags, etc. as Directed By the Adult Athletic Trainers
XII. Assists with Post-Game Health Screenings as Directed
XIII. Assists with Athletic Training Room clean-up and Clean-out at Hotel
XIV. Assists in Returning Leftover Supplies to Storage.
