Long, Athletic Director of the Shrine Bowl of the
Carolina’s announced today that Coach David Farnham,
Head Coach of the South Carolina Sandlappers has
appointed assistant coach Reggie Kennedy of
Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg,
South Carolina as the acting head coach of the
team. Coach Farnham of Blue Ridge High School is
presently undergoing medical treatment for an
un-disclosed illness in a Greenville, South Carolina
hospital. Long added, “Coach Farnham also named
George Harrelson, an assistant Coach at Blue Ridge
High School to be an assistant Coach on the
Sandlappers squad. Long said “Coach Harrelson is a
former head coach of Riverside and J. L. Mann high
schools and he has been added to the Shrine Bowl
coaching staff to fill-in for Coach Farnham, NOT to
replace Coach Farnham. Coach Harrelson's
responsibility for the Shrine Bowl will be coaching
the quarterbacks.”
Acting Head Coach Reggie Kennedy announced today
that Dontae Rumph, an offensive tackle and defensive
end from Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews
has been named as a replacement player for Robert
Quinn of Ft. Dorchester. Robert Quinn earlier
selected as a member of the South Carolina 44 man
squad is currently undergoing medical treatment and
is recovering from an emergency surgery earlier this
week.
Coach Kennedy also reported that Ryan Fowler, a
kick specialist from Eastside High School in
Taylor’s has been named as a replacement player for
Spencer Benton of Myrtle Beach High School. Benton,
also a kick specialist injured his leg during game
action recently.
Coach Kennedy will be eligible to return as a HEAD
COACH at a future SBOC game in as much as he is
filling in for Coach Farnham as acting head coach
for the 2007 team.
This year’s game, The 71st Annual, will again be
played at beautiful Gibbs Stadium on the campus of
Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina on
Saturday, December 15th at 1:00 PM EST.
