What a joy it is to be part of the Shrine Bowl

What a joy it is to be part of the Shrine Bowl:  To compete in the name of your state is more than just a game, it amounts to an honor.  And to achieve this honor under the auspice of the Shriners, whose motto is "Strong Legs Run, So Weak Legs May Walk," exemplifies the best of best feelings one can athletically experience.

I am in the latter years of my career.  I have seen sport from the view point of an athlete, a coach, and an Athletic Trainer.  Competition in any endeavor keeps a person healthy, alert, and goal-orientated.  I am confident in saying "My career is what others only wish they could experience."

The professionalism and sincerity of the Shriners has already been obvious in their management and organization of the oldest inter-state football competition in the United States.  Regardless of the games outcome, no one will ever be able to take this experience away from me.  I will forever have the memory of being part of the 2007 Shrine Bowl Football Game.  My gratitude and appreciation extends to the Shriners, the coaches, the athletes, the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association, and the game of football.

Go South Carolina All-Stars!

Humbly I am,

 Ed Mathews
