North and South Carolina Shrine Bowl Coaches gathered in Spartanburg on Saturday and Sunday October 13th and 14th for the arduous task of selecting 88 players from the more than 300 name submissions from the two Carolinas.  North Carolina Head Coach Sam Story of Walter Williams High School in Burlington, NC and South Carolina Head Coach David Farnham – of Blue Ridge High School, in Greer, SC selected 44 players each in what they termed would well represent their respective states.  This final selection process culminates nearly a year of extraordinary work that these coaching staffs’ dedicate to the selection process in addition to their regular jobs.

Once the final list was submitted to Shrine Bowl Officials, they were then sent to the respective high school associations for eligibility certifications.  Upon receiving the authorization from those governing bodies, the Shrine Bowl designees notified each player’s Head Coach informing him of his player’s selection.  The coach in turn informed the player(s).
