Carolinas Special Statement
Regarding 2007 Player Selection Rosters
Dateline:
October 17, 2007 ... Spartanburg,
South Carolina
North and South Carolina Shrine Bowl Coaches
gathered in Spartanburg on Saturday and Sunday
October 13th and 14th for the
arduous task of selecting 88 players from the more
than 300 name submissions from the two Carolinas.
North Carolina Head Coach Sam Story of Walter
Williams High School in Burlington, NC and South
Carolina Head Coach David Farnham – of Blue Ridge
High School, in Greer, SC selected
44
players each in what they termed would well
represent their respective states. This final
selection process culminates nearly a year of
extraordinary work that these coaching staffs’
dedicate to the selection process in addition to
their regular jobs.
Once the final list was submitted to Shrine Bowl
Officials, they were then sent to the respective
high school associations for eligibility
certifications. Upon receiving the authorization
from those governing bodies, the Shrine Bowl
designees notified each player’s Head Coach
informing him of his player’s selection. The coach
in turn informed the player(s).
Earlier today, Billy Benfield, Chairman of The
Shrine Bowl Board Of Governors and Connie Altman,
General Game Chairman announced that GoUpstate.com
will present an Internet Webcast that will include
the Shrine Bowl Player Selection Rosters for 2007.
The Webcast is slated to begin at
1PM EST on Thursday, October 18th,
2007.

the official release that includes, interviews with
North Carolina Head Coach Sam Story and South
Carolina Assistant Coach Reggie Kennedy, including
quotes useable for stories, and the 2007 roster

played at beautiful Gibbs Stadium on the campus of
Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina on
Saturday, December 15th at 1:00 PM EST.

in North and South Carolina beginning November 1st.
