It is time for our third annual Shrine Bowl Student Correspondent contest. This year we will determine the winners by a writing contest from rising seniors (graduating in May 2009).

School personnel may request an application for a rising senior in good academic standing. The application will include a teacher recommendation, student bio, and writing skills portion. A panel of judges consisting of representatives from the Spartanburg Herald Journal and Shrine Bowl will evaluate these applications.

 Applications are available upon request at jameslwebb@bellsouth.net . Deadline for submission of articles is April 30th 2008. Five finalists from each state will participate in a second round of articles in September with the winners announced in October along with player selections.

 A winning student from each state will participate in this year’s Shrine Bowl week activities. These students will publish a daily paper each evening about the days Shrine Bowl events. Papers will be available to players and staff at the hotel as well as online at www.GoUpstate.com and www.Shrine-Bowl.com . We will provide the student correspondent with room and board at the same location as the players.
